INTRO:

The French International School of Zagreb is a conventioned institution, accredited up to the 9th grade, under the supervision of the AEFE, and operates on the academic calendar of the northern hemisphere. It welcomes students from preschool to the 9th grade, and has a high school program in partnership with CNED and on-site tutoring. The students are predominantly of Croatian or French nationality. Taking into consideration the local cultural and regulatory context is essential for effective performance in this position. Proficiency in English is desirable.

EXPECTED PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES:

• PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION: Specialist in special education and rehabilitation (master's degree/master's degree in educational rehabilitation, master's degree in special education /master's degree in social pedagogy/ master’s degree in psychology)

• CONDITION: according to the Act on Education in Primary and Secondary Schools, and the Rulebook on Professional Training and Pedagogical Psychological Education of Teachers and Professional Associates in Primary Education.

OBJECTIVES:

• the professional associate works directly with the students, involved in professional development and coordination tasks, management of the administration in the field of work, and especially with:

• recognition, prevention and mitigation of specific difficulties in development and learning;

• provision of specific educational support for students with developmental and learning disabilities;

• proposing content and methods of work for individual educational plan, with programs and adapted curriculum in accordance with the diagnosed degree and type of specific developmental difficulties for each special needs child;

• defining specific goals and skill set that are needed for all students with developmental differences and specific learning differences.

• establishing progress monitoring methods and coordinating times of monitoring and adjustment in cooperation with teachers, with the aim of reaching and fulfilling a full individual plan and program for each special needs student

• direct work with students (individual, pair and group work) with specific goals elaborated in an individual educational plan with the aim of providing methods of assisting, mitigating and supporting the children with special needs with learning, behavior and socialization;

• cooperation with parents and members of the school committee;

• taking care of the training and professional development of the teachers in the field of integration and inclusion of the children with developmental disabilities;

• cooperation with relevant institutions of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Education, City of Zagreb, school medicine doctor, committees of local and national teams, etc.) in daily work, and when exercising rights for teaching assistants and communication associates, and other requests as necessary.

• coordination of teaching assistants, and creating a plan and program for them, as well as monitoring the work of teaching assistants in accordance with the valid regulations of the Republic of Croatia and the best school practices.

• active participation in improving the work of the school, encouraging the introduction and application of new teaching methods, forms and school work at the national and international level.

• support to professional staff for creating national and international collaborations from the scope of work (AEFE and similar).

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• A patient, resourceful, resilient personality that is passionate about helping the children in need

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Experience in work with multidisciplinary team of experts (OT,SLT,PT Psy.), direct work with students, parents, psychologists and other professional associates, teachers, school committees, and teaching assistants for students with specific developmental needs and learning difficulties.

• Work experience in the prevention of challenges in behavior and socialization of different age groups of students.

• Work experience in proposing hands-on training and professional development of teachers in the field of special needs, integration and inclusion of children with developmental and special needs; active participation in improving school work and encouraging the introduction and application of new methods and forms of teaching.

• Experience in developing Individualized Educational Plan

• Experience in keeping track and progress monitoring for each individual child with special needs

• Experience in cooperation with relevant institutions of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Education, City of Zagreb, school medicine doctor, committees of local and national teams, etc.)

• Advanced knowledge of the English language, especially speaking (mandatory),

• Knowledge of the French language, especially speaking (preferred).
